Curating the Perfect Galentines

Valentine's -- a whole day solely distinguished for celebrating love. It's easy to adore this day when you're in a relationship, right!? Well I'm going to argue that it's just as easy to love Valentine's Day when you're single, I promise.

My view of Valentine's Day is this: love comes out of us in so many forms. A significant other is just one manifestation of that. There's so many relationships I have in my life that are filled with love, joy, and positivity and zero of them are even romantic. Family, friends, and God are all prime examples of that. Why not take Valentine's Day to celebrate all types of love we have with others and champion the relational humans that we are! We were made and created to love, not just romantically, but in every single thing we do!

This year I'm celebrating Galentine's in multiple ways. Here are my best tips and tricks to make this holiday the best it can be.

  1. Valentine Gifts

Remember when you were in elementrary school and each kid would bring a Valentine for the whole class? Not just for the boy they had a crush on or the girl who's eyes they thought were pretty, but for their whole little community? Why did that have to stop!? I love giving little gifts and think it's a beautiful way to show someone how you are thinking about them. My advice is to be intentional and generous with your girl squad this year and give them a Valentine. It doesn't have to be big at all, but just a little gesture, packaged all nice and sweet that makes your nearest and dearest know that you love them.

Ideas:

Wine! - Trader Joe's is my go-to for cheap wine that is actually good. There's a ton of options for under $10. My favorites are the Moon X Red Blend ($6.99), the Nobilo Sauvigon Blanc ($10), and of course my trusted and true friend J Lohr Cabernet ($12.99).

Target V-Day Finds! - Target is a seasonal heaven and Valentine's Day is just one example of that. My fav finds this year that won't break the bank are this adorable mug and this little candle that will outlive V-Day and look great in any space.

Something to spice up the kitchen! - One of my best friends got me a galentine gift last year that I haven't stopped thinking about! The gift at first looked like just a bottle of wine, but I soonr ealized it didnt stop there. She tied around the bottle the cutst pink pot holders she found and attached a matching kitchen towel set to the gift! It was presented beautifully and was a useful, fun gift that was far from cliché. I found this set on amazon prime that will get here before the weeked!

2. Galentine's Day

My first advice when planning a Galentine's event is that all friend groups are different, so tailor your specific Galentine Get Together for your group of girls. Make sure it's curated for the group and is personal in the way it brings you all together. Personally, this year my friend group has decided to host a Galentine's Potluck Brunch. Being in college, it's hard for one person or house to take on the full burden of hosting. A Potluck is the perfect solution to this problem. With everyone bringing something for the event, the host house isn't left with the entirety of the responsibilities. One thing that I am personally excited about is the new trend of breakfast charcuterie boards. This is one way to make enough for a large group, but present it in a way that everyone will need to snap a pic before digging it!

Other Ideas:

Get your nails done together

Go for a spa day

Get a group together to attend your fav workout class

....No matter what, finish it off with a mimosa!

3. Galentine's Night

Now, night is where the taken ladies might have other plans and that's ok! As long as you have at least one more single friend, then there's a night to be had. My first and most cliché advice is to go out to or make a special dinner. Food is definitely a love language and why would you exclude yourself from this night of love just because you're not on a real valentine date. Make the night special just for y'all!

Reservations are hard to find on this night so if you are unable to find a spot, try finding restaurants that only accept walk-ins. This way you can schedule time to get there a little early and wait for a table while still ensuring you'll actually have a spot. The quality time while waiting for a table might just be what your girl squad needs. As for recipes go my all time favorite all come from Half Baked Harvest. She is a master in the kitchen and has a recipe for every type of event you could think of.

After dinner, plan a fun activity. Whether that's decorating your house and having a mini party to pop some chapagne at or cozying up on the couch to watch chick flicks together, a fun night always ends with quality time.

Valentine's Day represents LOVE in all its forms. Why not take advantage of the opportunity to pour out love in every way you can this year. Especially in these times, it's integral to love one another more & more & to find joy in even the smallest of things... like a Galentine Get Together <3
